American Mile Insurance Privacy Policy

Fast Quote Network LLC, d/b/a American Mile Insurance (“American Mile,” “we,” “us,” “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. We have created a connected car application programming interface (“API”) to enable an application that uses other standard APIs to communicate with vehicles manufactured by certain vehicle manufacturers (“OEMs”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, store, use and distribute information through our software, website, mobile applications, documentation, and related services (together, the “Services”)

Except as set forth in this Privacy Policy, your Personal Information will not be used for any other purpose without your consent. We do not actively collect Personal Information to sell such information in a way that specifically identifies the individual (i.e. we don’t sell customer lists). You may withdraw your consent to our processing of your Personal Information at any time. However, withdrawing consent may result in your inability to continue using some or all of the Services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party website, product, or service (each of the foregoing, a “Third Party Service”), even if a Third-Party Service links to (or from) the Services or is enabled through the Services. American Mile does not operate those Third-Party Services. Please always review the wholly separate privacy practices and terms of service of those Third Party Services before deciding whether to provide any information to them.

Information We Collect

When you interact with us through the Services, we may collect Personal Information and other information from you, as further described below.

A. Vehicle Information

We collect certain information through trusted third parties, including OEMs. Some features of the Services allow you to provide or transmit data and content, including regarding your vehicle and the use thereof (“Vehicle Information”), to or through the Services. When you authorize a Third-Party Service that utilizes our Services to access your Vehicle Information, you agree to share Vehicle Information and other information with us. You are enabling us to interact with and through Third Party Services or OEMs on your behalf and with your consent.

B. Personal Information

If you are a customer or visitor to our Site, we collect Personal Information from you when you voluntarily provide such information, such as when you contact us with inquiries, contact us regarding sales or customer support, respond to one of our surveys, register for access to the Services, sign up for an event, make a request to receive information about American Mile’s products (like a whitepaper or a newsletter) instruct information to be shared with us, or use certain components of the Services.

The specific Personal Information collected during these interactions will vary based on the purpose or nature of your request, but generally it will include the following categories of Personal Information:

  • Identification and Contact Information: We collect your name, email address, phone number, and mailing/billing addresses when you register for access to the Services.

  • Financial Information: For any Service that you purchase for a fee, including insurance policies based on quotes received from our insurance broker partner(s), we and/or our payment processor(s) will collect the billing information necessary to process your payments, such as your payment card number, banking information and/or a billing address, and authentication details.

  • Insurance Information: Based on information you provide, we collect and retain information related to insurance policies for which you are the insured, including information contained on declarations pages for such policies that includes Identification and Contact Information, policy coverages and limits, and the amount of premium paid or owed.

  • Commercial Information: If you create an account, we may retain a history of anything you purchase from us and our communications history about those purchases.

Information Collected Automatically: We also automatically collect certain information relating to interaction with our Services, as described under the “Information Collected Automatically” section below.

C. Information Collected Automatically

When you visit, use, or otherwise interact with the Services, we may receive certain information about your visit, use, or interactions. For example, we may monitor the number of people that visit the Services, peak hours of visits, which page(s) are visited, the domains our visitors are directed from (e.g., google.com, yahoo.com, etc.), and which browsers people use to access the Services (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.), broad geographical information, and navigation pattern. In particular, the following information is created and automatically logged in our systems:

  • Log Information: Information that your browser automatically sends whenever you visit the Site. Log Information includes your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and settings, the date and time of your request, and how you interacted with the Site. We may also infer from your IP address the geographic area you are connecting from when you visit the Site.

  • Customer Usage Data: When you use our Services, we collect operational data like API requests or usage information regarding your use of the Services (“Customer Usage Data”).

  • Cookies: We may, and we may allow third party service providers to, use cookies or similar technologies to collect information about your browsing activities over time and across different websites following your use of the Services. Please read the “Cookies” section below for more information.

We generally use Information Collected Automatically for the following reasons:

Operationally Necessary - This includes technologies that allow you access to our Services, applications, and tools that are required to identify irregular website behavior, prevent fraudulent activity, and improve security or that allow you to make use of our functionality.

Performance-Related - We may use technologies to assess the performance of our Services, including as part of our analytic practices to help us understand how individuals use our Services (see Analytics below);

Functionality-Related - We may use technologies that allow us to offer you enhanced functionality when accessing or using our Services. This may include identifying you when you sign into our Services or keeping track of your specified preferences, interests, or past items viewed;

Advertising or Targeting-Related - We may, either now or in the future, use first party or third-party Technologies to deliver content, including ads relevant to your interests, on our Services or on third-party websites.

Analytics. We may, either now or in the future, use Technologies and other third-party tools to process analytics information on our Services.

American Mile’s Use of Your Personal Information

American Mile uses the Personal Information you provide or that is otherwise collected in providing the Services, including Vehicle Information, in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy. If you provide Personal Information for a certain reason, we will use the Personal Information in connection with that reason, as further described below.

A. End User Information

Account Information: We process Account Information as necessary to create and administer your account and enable you to use applications made available to you by Developers. Processing this information is necessary for our legitimate interest in providing our Services to Developers, and it also furthers your interest in being able to use applications made available to you by Developers. We do not use your Account Information for marketing purposes.

Vehicle Information: We process Vehicle Information at the direction of our Customers for the purpose of providing the Services and pursuant to our agreement with the relevant Customer.

B. Customer or Visitor Information

We use Personal Information that you provide through the Services (described above) to provide you with access to the Services, operate and maintain the Service (including providing customer service, fixing malfunctions, testing our security systems, etc.), and process transactions. This processing is necessary to perform the contract we are about to enter into or have entered into with you.

We also use Personal Information as necessary for the following legitimate business interests:

  • To respond to your inquiries, comments, feedback or questions;

  • To manage our relationship with you, which includes sending administrative information to you relating to our Services and changes to our terms, conditions, and policies, and asking you to leave a review or take a survey;

  • To administer and protect our business and the Site, prevent fraud, criminal activity, or misuses of our Site, and to ensure the security of our IT systems, architecture and networks (including troubleshooting, testing, system maintenance, support and hosting of data); and

  • To comply with legal obligations and legal process and to protect our rights, privacy, safety or property, and/or that of our affiliates, you or other third parties, and enforce our terms and policies.

In addition, we may use your Personal Information to contact you in the future to tell you about events, promotions, features, or other services we believe will be of interest to you. Where required by applicable law, we will obtain appropriate consent prior to sending you marketing communications. You may opt out of receiving emails by following the instructions contained in each promotional email we send you or by contacting us. If you unsubscribe from our marketing lists, you will no longer receive marketing communications but we will continue to contact you regarding our Site and Services and to respond to your requests.

C. Information Collected Automatically

We use information collected automatically (described above) as necessary for our legitimate interest in analyzing use of our Services, providing, maintaining and improving the content and functionality of the Services and our customer relationships and experiences. In particular, we will use this information to help us create new features or functions, refine or personalize the user or Services experience, increase the Services’ technical performance, develop our business and inform our marketing strategy. Disclosure of Your Personal Information

There are circumstances where we may share your Personal Information, including Vehicle Information, with certain third parties as set forth below.

Third Party Services

If you are an End User, as described above, if you authorize a Third Party Service to access your vehicle information you acknowledge that we may share your information (including Vehicle Information) with the third party that provides the Third Party Service. The use of your information by such third party will be subject to its applicable privacy policy, which you should carefully review.

Business Transfers

As we develop our business, we might sell or buy businesses or assets. In the event of a corporate sale, merger, reorganization, dissolution or similar event, Personal Information, including Vehicle Information, may be part of the transferred assets.

Service Providers

American Mile, like many businesses, sometimes engages other companies to perform certain business-related functions and services, and we may share Personal Information with these service providers to assist us in performing business operations. Pursuant to our instructions, these parties will access, process or store Personal Information in the course of performing their duties to us. These functions and services include:

  • IT, hosting, cloud services or user support;

  • For our Customers and Site visitors, event management, email communication software providers, email newsletter providers, database and sales/customer relationship management services, payment processors, web analytics services (for more details on the third parties that place cookies through the Site, please see the “Cookies” section below). We may also disclose your Personal Information to professional advisors, such as lawyers, bankers, auditors and insurers, where necessary in the course of the professional services they render to us.

Sale of Information

American Mile will is not in the business of collecting Personal Information for sale to third parties. We do not sell any Personal Information that personally identifies you, such as your name(s), email address(es), property address(es), or any other personally identifying information. American Mile may, however, sell Vehicle Information and data related to Vehicle Information to third parties. This may include manufacturer information, information related to the vehicle’s usage, and vehicle location information. Such information will never be sold in a way that personally identifies you or provides Personal Information.

Legal Requirements

American Mile may disclose Personal Information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (i) comply with a legal obligation, (ii) protect and defend the rights or property of American Mile, (iii) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public, or (iv) protect against legal liability.

Notice to California Consumers

Under California Civil Code Sections 1798.83-1798.84, California residents are entitled to ask us for a notice identifying the categories of Personal Information that we share with our affiliates and/or third parties for marketing purposes, and providing contact information for such affiliates and/or third parties. We do not share your Personal Information with third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes unless you provide us with your express consent to do so.

Pursuant to the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”), natural persons who are California residents have certain rights concerning their Personal Information held by us, as described below.

California Privacy Rights: To the extent provided for by law and subject to applicable exceptions, California residents have the following privacy rights in relation to the Personal Information we collect:

  • The right to know what Personal Information we have collected and how we have used and disclosed that personal information;

  • The right to request deletion of your Personal Information; and

  • The right to be free from discrimination relating to the exercise of the foregoing privacy rights.

Verification: to protect your Personal Information from unauthorized access or deletion, we may require you to verify your login credentials before you can submit a request to know or delete Personal Information. If you do not have an account with us, or if we suspect fraudulent or malicious activity, we may ask you to provide additional Personal Information for verification. If we cannot verify your identity, we will not provide or delete your Personal Information.

Authorized Agents: you may submit a request to know or a request to delete your Personal Information through an authorized agent. If you do so, the agent must present signed written permission to act on your behalf and you may also be required to independently verify your identity with us.

Notice to Nevada Consumers

If you are a resident of Nevada, you have the right to opt-out of the sale of certain Personal Information to third parties who intend to license or sell that Personal Information. Please note that we do not currently sell your Personal Information as sales are defined in Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 603A. For any questions, or to request that we do not sell your information in the future, please contact us as set forth below.

Notice to Connecticut Consumers

Connecticut law provides residents with the right to know, access, correct and delete personal information, and the right to opt out of cross-context behavior advertising as described. If we are unable to fulfill your request to access, review, delete or correct your personal information, we will respond to you explaining why. We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies to collect certain information as individuals navigate our Site or use our Services, as described below.

General

Your Choices

You can visit the Site without providing any Personal Information, however some Personal Information is required to use the Services or certain features of it. If you choose not to provide Personal Information that is required to use features of the Services, you may not be able to use those features. You also can contact us to ask us to update your Personal Information or if you need to change or correct your Personal Information (if you have a Customer account with us, you can also log in to your account to update your name and email address).

Data Retention

We keep Personal Information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, while we have a legitimate business need to do so, or as required by law (e.g. for tax, legal, accounting or other purposes), whichever is longer.

If you have elected to receive marketing communications, we retain information about your marketing preferences until you opt out of receiving these communications and in accordance with our policies.

To determine the appropriate retention period for your Personal Information, we will consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the Personal Information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your Personal Information, the purposes for which we use your Personal Information and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal requirements.

Children

American Mile does not knowingly collect Personal Information from children. The Services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and if you are under the age of 13, please do not submit any Personal Information through the Services. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s Internet usage and to instruct their children never to provide Personal Information on the Services without their permission. If you have reason to believe that a child under the age of 13 has provided Personal Information to American Mile through the Services, please contact us, and we will delete that information from our databases. If we become aware that a child has provided us with Personal Information in violation of applicable law, we will delete any Personal Information we have collected, unless we have a legal obligation to keep it.

No Endorsement of Third-Party Services

This Privacy Policy applies only to the Services. The policies and procedures we described here do not apply to any Third-Party Services. Any links or integrations from or with a Third-Party Service do not imply that American Mile endorses the Third-Party Service. The information that you share with Third Party Services will be governed by the specific privacy policies and terms of service of the Third-Party Services and not by this Privacy Policy.

Security

American Mile takes reasonable steps to protect the Personal Information provided via the Services from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no Internet or email transmission is ever fully secure or error free. In particular, email sent to or from the Services may not be secure. Therefore, you should take special care in deciding what information you send to us via email. Please keep this in mind when disclosing any Personal Information to American Mile via the Internet. In addition, we are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Services, or third-party websites.
